Welcome to www.irishstrykers.com

By way of background the Stryker class was created in 1999 as a clubman class to encourage participation in motorsport. In 2005 the present committee of Andrew Dalton, Des Bruton and Damian Roddy "took over" the class which has undergone a significant resurgence in both the 2006 and 2007 seasons. At the season ending Leinster Trophy meeting there were 24 entries and we are aware of 6 new cars under construction for 2008.The class is run by competitors for competitors on a professional basis. The website www.irishstrykers.com is recognized as amongst the best of all the classes.
At the commencement of 2007 the committee held a public information meeting attended by the motorsport journalists to encourage new entrants to the class. This was a tremendous success. A significant achievement of the class is the number of new entrants it has encouraged into the sport. Only 2 of the 25 registered championship competitors had previous motorsport experience. In the past the class has acted as a feeder for other classes and was won in the past by Jonathan Fildes, John Whelan, Alan Dawson and Paul Dagg who subsequently went on to great success in other classes.
As the cars are build to an identical standard the racing is close and exciting and it is the driver that is the differentiating factor not the size of ones chequebook.
In 2007 we ran 12 championship races as part of the “Irish premier Series” with the Libre and Porsche classes had television coverage on 8 of those races. We expect a similar level of coverage in 2008. The 2007 championship was the most successful to date with 27 drivers competing during the season. Tristan Quinn retained the championship in a season were there were 5 different winners . Each day was a championship round. Four of the racedays were at Mondello Park (April 8, May 13th, July 1 and Sept 22/23), one at Kirkistown (July 28th) and one at Anglesey in Wales on Sept 8/9.
As well as been competitive and good value, the series has a lot of camaraderie, support for new drivers and provides the best barbecue in the paddock
If you want to explore the possibility of participating in the class please feel free to contact any of those listed in the Contact Us section of the Website.
